Physical Education (PE)
Each class has one lesson of PE per week. These lessons follow a theme and planned progression to enable the children to develop greater physical literacy within the disciplines of gymnastics, dance, athletics and games. The class is taught by the class teacher or SCL Coaching to enrich the children’s physical education. We follow the Val Sabin PE Scheme.
In addition, each class has a Forest School on a Friday morning in rotation with our Forest School teacher, Vicki.
SCL run lunchtime clubs Wednesday-Friday each week, in order to encourage the children to be active and learn/practice new skills.
Sports and Health Week in June allows us to immerse ourselves in the teaching of PE for the week and provide the children with opportunities to learn new sports, such as Hockey, Tennis, Fitness, Dance and Skipping, for example. The week ends with our Sports Morning, which combines a multi-skills team event for all year groups before individual track races.
